What Is Jitter Clicking?
Jitter clicking is a mouse-clicking technique where you tense your forearm and wrist muscles to create rapid involuntary muscle vibrations, which bounce your finger on the mouse button at high speed. It's used primarily in Minecraft PvP combat to achieve CPS scores of 10–14+ clicks per second.
Unlike regular clicking (one intentional motion per click), jitter clicking exploits the body's natural muscle vibration when tense. A skilled jitter clicker can consistently hit 12–15 CPS without making individual clicking motions.
How to Jitter Click
- Choose the right grip: Claw grip or palm grip works best. Your finger should rest naturally on the mouse button.
- Position your wrist: Rest your wrist firmly on the desk or mousepad. The wrist acts as a pivot point.
- Tense your forearm: Flex the muscles in your forearm and hand simultaneously. You'll feel your hand start to shake slightly.
- Let the vibration click: The shaking transfers to your finger, which bounces on the mouse button registering multiple clicks.
- Build stamina: Start with 5–10 second bursts and gradually extend. It takes weeks of practice to do it consistently.
Jitter Clicking vs Butterfly Clicking vs Drag Clicking
Three main high-CPS techniques exist in competitive gaming:
- Jitter clicking: 10–15 CPS. Uses forearm vibration. Moderate wrist strain. Works on most mice.
- Butterfly clicking: 15–25 CPS. Alternates two fingers rapidly. Banned on some servers. Needs a good mouse.
- Drag clicking: 25–35 CPS. Drags finger across button creating friction. Highest CPS but most likely to be flagged by anticheats.
Is Jitter Clicking Allowed in Minecraft?
Most Minecraft servers allow jitter clicking since it's a natural physical technique. However, some servers with strict anticheats (like Hypixel) may flag extremely high CPS (14+) as suspicious. Always check a server's rules before competitive play.
Frequently Asked Questions
Jitter clicking can cause wrist and forearm strain if practised excessively. It puts unnatural tension on the tendons. Limit sessions to under 5 minutes with breaks, and stop immediately if you feel pain. Many experienced players stop jitter clicking due to long-term strain concerns.
Most people achieve 8–12 CPS when starting jitter clicking. Experienced jitter clickers can reach 14–16 CPS consistently. Very skilled practitioners with the right mouse can occasionally hit 17+ CPS, though this overlaps with butterfly clicking territory.
A light mouse with a low-actuation-force main button works best. The Razer DeathAdder, Logitech G Pro, and Glorious Model O are popular choices. Heavier mice resist the vibrations and lower your effective CPS.
Most people can produce some jitter clicking vibration on their first attempt, but consistently achieving 10+ CPS takes 2–4 weeks of daily practice (in short sessions). Building muscle memory for the exact tension level needed is the hardest part.
