How many people does a Scamp 16 sleep?

In today’s blog post, we will answer the following question: How many people does a Scamp 16 sleep? We will give you a few tips on how to sleep comfortably in a SCamp 16 (or any other trailer for that matter). We will also review the pros and cons of Scamp 16 travel trailers.

How many people does a Scamp 16 sleep?

A Scamp 16 can sleep up to four people, just like the 13-foot Scamp Travel Trailer. You get a 42’’, 44’’ or 54’’ bed available as an option, but if you choose the larger bathroom option, there is no space left for a sofa/bunk bed, so keep that in mind.

How to sleep comfortably in a Scamp 16?

The Scamp 16 is perfectly comfortable for a couple of days or weeks, depending on the number of people travelling. Still, sleeping on a trailer mattress isn’t exactly as sleeping at home. This is why we decided to share some tips that will help you have a good night no matter the size of the bed/trailer:

  1. Get a comfortable mattress: The first, and totally non-negotiable, tip to have a good night’s sleep is to make sure you have a comfortable mattress suitable for RV trips. Scamp trailers can boast of having ultra-comfortable mattresses but each of us has its peculiarities, so make sure you get a good mattress for your trailer.
  1. Get rid of old pillows and sheets: Because the condition of the trailer mattress is considered more important to a good sleep experience, many people neglect other important things: such as sheets and pillows. In addition to taking your time to wash dirty sheets and pillows, feel free to change them when they are worn, especially pillows that tend to lose their original shape after many uses.
  1. Get to a good location: You may not be in a position to choose a good location, but if you can opt for a quiet area better. Campgrounds are often busy and crowded, so try to find a serene spot surrounded by nature.
  1. Get a sleeping mask: The light from outside can make things difficult for you at bedtime. This can be difficult for anyone who does not like to sleep even in minimal light. You can buy a sleep mask or blackout curtain to filter out excess light and help regain a good night’s sleep.
  1. Turn off the electronic devices: By this, we mean phones, tablets, game consoles, televisions, and anything else that produces a bright light. If you abuse them at night your mind will not rest and you will stay awake longer. Turn them all off at least an hour before bed so that your brain can relax and feel like sleeping.
  1.  Get earplugs to keep noise away: When you’re camping, chances are there are people making noise outside. If it disturbs your sleep, then you may consider purchasing earplugs, sleeping supplements, or downloading an ambient noise app to induce sleep. On the other hand, if you are the type who likes noise, headphones or earphones can come in handy. That way you can regulate the sound and not make others uncomfortable while you do it.
  1. Don’t change your sleep pattern: If you have a particular sleep “protocol” at home, you don’t need to change it because you are on the road. If you repeat your usual sleep pattern, it will be easier for you to enjoy a comfortable sleep. You may not have the perfect restful sleep you’ve always had at home, but you can get a good night’s sleep after all.

How much does a 16-foot Scamp cost?

The basic price of a 16-foot Scamp trailer is $11,600 and the costs will go up depending on the number of amenities you plan on adding to your trailer.

The 16’ Scamp has five different layouts, they can also be custom-built to what you want. You will start with the basic package and you just keep adding on things until you get exactly what you want.

The 16’ Scamp deluxe package, for example, comes to $22,000.  This model in particular it’s a lot heavier than a regular fibreglass trailer because it’s got heavy wood flooring. Regarding the extras, a roof fan for this Scamp trailer is $175, $7.99 for the TV package, $900 for the awning, and so on.

Is the Scamp 16 worth it?

Like any other travel trailer, the Scamp 16 has its pros and cons. Let’s review them below:

Advantages of the Scamp 16Disadvantages of the Scamp 16
A Scamp 16 is a fibreglass trailer, which makes it lightweight and easy to tow even by a small SUV. This means that you wouldn’t need to buy a different vehicle to tow your trailer! The downside of that is that they’re hard to find. Scamp only makes a certain number every year. It’s a small company based in the US. You may be looking quite a few years for a used Scamp trailer!
You will love the layout of your Scamp 16. We especially recommend the layout with the side dinette, the bed in the back, the kitchen and the bathroom in the front. It has every possible convenience that you may want or need in a small camper. The downside of that is the bed is kind of small. It’s roughly like a full-size mattress with rounded corners, and the space from end to end is only a little bit over six feet. So, if you’re tall, the 16’ Scamp is really not a good option for you.
There is a low risk of water leaks. Because your Scamp trailer is a  fibreglass shell and it comes in two pieces – so the top is a single piece and the bottom is a single piece – that fit together so there’s only one seam that runs around the outside. The downside of that is the interior of the Scamp can be kind of dark because it doesn’t have really giant windows like some of the newer campers out there do. The only source of natural light is the tiny little kitchen window and the tiny little window in the door.
Another thing making the 16-foot Scamp worth the costs is that it is a small business, made in the US. They focus on quality instead of quantity as they only produce a certain number of travel trailers every year. A downside to the Scamp 16’  trailer is that some (vital) parts break quite often: poor quality doors and windows, the water tank leaks, the door doesn’t close properly, and so on.
One of the things we like more about the 16-foot Scamp trailer is the vintage feeling that they have inside. On the flip side of that, consider the trailer has had pretty much the same sort of layout for several years and it doesn’t have a lot of the modern features that you find in newer campers like USB charging ports and led lights and things like that.
The 16-foot Scamp trailers offer plenty of storage. You will be able to fit all of your camping gear, clothes and other essential things for longer trips with no issue. As a downside, however, Scamp trailers are definitely not fit for all four seasons. You must only use it when the weather permits it and winterizing your trailer should be a good practice.

Conclusions

Very compact and, as their name suggests, very light, Scamp campers are made of moulded fibreglass; in this way, no water infiltration is possible through the walls! In addition, they are ideal for travelling long distances and they are easy to tow, given their low weight and compact dimensions.
