A Toyota TrailBlazer can tow a camper or small caravan.  The SUV offers a towing package as an upgrade, but if your TrailBlazer didn’t come equipped with one, you can purchase an aftermarket towing package.

The towing package includes a trailer hitch, tow ball, and braking module. Towing with the TrailBlazer lets you travel by your boat, caravan, or utility trailer.

Chevrolet TrailBlazer: is it worth it?

Chevrolet has a long, never-ending one when it comes to SUVs. Decades offering in its portfolio models for the family such as the current Tracker, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban.

And to complement this offer with a model that seeks to replace the almost eternal Captiva, they devised in the region the second generation of the Trailblazer, which arrives after nine years of waiting and with a very different concept compared to what the previous model offered.

The birth of Trailblazer was part of a project developed over four years by General Motors, with more than 400 prototypes in the GM laboratories in Brazil. The model arrives equipped with a 2.8-litre turbo Duramax Diesel four-cylinder engine, 200 hp of power and 500 NM of torque.

It measures 4,887mm long, 1,870mm wide, 1,845mm high, 2,132mm wide and has 2,845mm between the axles. I liked its lines, rather rounded than full of lines, and angular straight lines as they are currently presented in the “more city” SUVs.

What first catches the attention of the new Trailblazer is its excellent clearance of 23 cm and 30 ° of entry angle, exceptional compared to what its competition offers today. Here it shows its “offroad soul”, it is ready to go on a trip without practically bumping into anything.

The main headlights are located in a rather high position, and their presence is accentuated by the large horizontal chrome bar (with the classic Chevrolet emblem in the middle), which divides part of the grille and the structure that contains the divided headlights. in two zones.

In general, it looks modern, also thanks to its very high hood, muscular wheel arches, a lot of clearance between the wheels and the bodywork, and a silhouette with an aggressive posture. In its design we see that Chevrolet developed a design that improves the aerodynamic coefficient, achieving a 12% improvement in inefficiency.

It has chrome details, in a dual grid, which allows better aerodynamic efficiency, DRL Lights with LED Signature of a good design, but not so played. It looks big, very tall, with longitudinal roof bars, side sills. It features front and rear parking sensors, as well as attractive 18 ”bi-tone detail alloy wheels with Michelin-signed mixed tires (265/60 R18). Back, the solution is rather common in their optics, somewhat small and straight, with full LEDs. Accompanies a large gate and a large bumper

In general, the Trailblazer is quite spacious, with comfortable seats in the front, and with electric adjustments, space behind is quite correct. The grace, in addition, is that rear seats also allow adjustment of the backrests, allowing you to lie down quite a bit.

There is plenty of space in the three rows, we tried the third run and it is quite comfortable in height, width and length, allowing adults to go with ease, even for long trips.

With Chevrolet TrailBlazer on the road

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer delivers 200 horsepower and 500 maximum torque and has a consumption approved by the 3CV (Vehicle Consumption) in the city of 7.6 km / l, 12 km / l on the highway, achieving a mixed consumption of 9.9 km / l.

It comes with a new six-speed automatic transmission, accompanied by an electronic traction selector with the classic modes: 2H, 4H and 4L. Thanks to its chassis and general set-up, it also has extraordinary offroad skills. I confirm the Trailblazer is by far the SUV with the best off-road skills, even better than the Toyota Fortuner.

This engine/box assembly is excellent, there is always torque, with electronic management that always takes us in the precise change, attentive to the angle changes that allow the Trailblazer to move with ease wherever it goes, whether it is full or empty of occupants.

Both on and off the road it copies imperfections very well. The suspension travels are very well-calibrated, with no loss of traction no matter how bad the road gets. And if this happens, the electrical elements act very well, such as the descent control, among others. On hills, it behaves excellently, in addition, to ride comfort and soundproofing that attracts attention. You can see the working hours of GM engineers in this regard.

On its engine and driving dynamics, we also highlight the minimal vibrations of the engine, which is somewhat “noisy” in operation but if we are outside or open the hood. Its road hold is optimal, it feels high, with a fairly elevated driving position, something also rare today. There is good visibility to the sides and somewhat less to the rear.

Another highlight is its well-accomplished EPS electric steering, well-calibrated with remarkable smoothness of movements, an excellent turning radius and the necessary touch to feel where Trailblazer 2018 is stepping on it.

This engine pushes hard from below, and as we said. , very well accompanied with a reactive automatic transmission when it comes to passing changes and hooking up if necessary.

The range where it performs best is between 1,800 and 3,500 RPM. It is very little “bouncing” in the face of sudden movements both in acceleration and braking, if we consider how high it is, another point to highlight.

The bottom line

In conclusion, the TrailBlazer is not the best-finished car, nor the most beautiful vehicle, but it is by far one of the most efficient. It has a retro design concept, it is an “old-fashioned SUV”. In today’s world, the Trailblazer surprised with its dynamic behaviour, especially off-road, where it is in its best habitat.
