Peugeot 3008: All you need to know

The explosion of SUVs in recent years has made these cars the most popular and best-selling in the US. However, Peugeot somehow managed to bring to market a car with a unique design, full of personal elements. It is noteworthy that this French brand has slightly exceeded its condition and managed to make a design for 3008 that may look Japanese.

Peugeot 3008 is a car full of details on the outside. For example, a double exhaust is simulated in the back, but in fact, they are just ornaments. The rear pillars are practically hidden by small triangular windows, the fog lights are embedded in the bar just below the headlights and the front grille is slightly concave to the outside with small chrome ornaments that shrink from top to bottom.

Peugeot 3008 engine and transmission

Let’s talk about the new 3008 with a very economical 1.6-litre BLUEHDi engine with 120 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The power may not seem high, but the car is not heavy and the 120 horsepower are enough for any situation.

The exceptional sound insulation doesn’t even let you realize that you are behind the wheel of a car on diesel, and at higher speeds, you will hear the noise of Continental tires rather than the noise of diesel.

Peugeot has chosen to continue with conventional 6-speed automatic transmissions. Nothing complicated with a double-clutch, but just an improved hydrated box, which does its job like a clock.

You also have the paddles at the wheel to change the 6 gears, but we are not talking about a sports box or extremely fast, so you will probably never touch them. But there is a box that you should always use in Drive to take you back and forth in maximum comfort. Admittedly, if you put your strong foot in acceleration, it will retrograde quickly so as to give you the strength needed to overtake in speed.

Acceleration: Peugeot 3008 makes 0-100 km / h in 11.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km / h;

Braking: the car has disc brakes on all wheels assisted by ABS, ESP and EBD;

Suspensions: although they are non-adjustable conventional suspensions, they offer increased comfort regardless of the surface.

Peugeot 3008 road behaviour

The centre of gravity for the Peugeot 3008 is quite low. In fact, the idea of the old SUV is gone, now they have no 4×4 traction and no huge ground clearance, all made for the owners to drive more in the city with them.

But this means that cars have begun to have a much closer road holding than a hatchback car, for example. That is, the Peugeot 3008 no longer has any tendency to roll in corners, the steering is more precise and the turning radius is smaller. Suddenly, the old SUVs turned into cars with improved handling.

A big advantage that SUVs offer is the high driving position. You can see the traffic differently and with everything that happens in front of you, you can easily make sure at pedestrian crossings.

3008 has large side mirrors, in which you see anything on the road, but it has one downside: the bezel is quite small. We have also seen worse SUVs in this regard, but it is clear that insurance in mirrors does not excel. But for that we have the Visiopark system with 180-degree video cameras and front-rear sensors in the parking lot, right?

Conclusions

We found out why this car is considered among the best in Europe. First of all for the exterior and interior appearance. It has no term of comparison in the segment on this side, and whoever wants the most interesting car on the outside combined with the most ergonomic and well-made interior, will buy a 3008.

Maybe in other chapters, such as power, performance or 4×4 traction, there is still room for improvement, but Peugeot seems to have overcome its situation a bit and started biting into the premium segment. And the price is right.

Even if there are some disadvantages, they are insignificant compared to the qualities that this SUV has “adopted” and transformed into the ideal car for the family.
