Towing with a Renault Kadjar: advice

Before any towing with the Renault Kadjar, position the gearbox in a neutral position, unlock the steering column, then release the parking brake. For vehicles equipped with an automatic gearbox, if it is impossible to shift the gear lever to position N, call a representative of the brand.

It is imperative to respect the regulations in force on towing. If you are a towing vehicle, do not exceed the towable weight of your vehicle.

  • Use a rigid tow bar. If a rope or cable is used (where permitted by law), the towed vehicle must be able to brake.
  • Do not tow a vehicle with impaired driving ability.
  • Avoid jerks when accelerating and braking which could damage the vehicle.
  • In all cases, it is advisable not to exceed 25 km/h.
  • Do not push the vehicle if the steering column is locked.

With the arrival of the second generation of the Nissan Qashqai, and with the success that the model has behind it, Renault decided to take advantage of its base to develop its new C-segment SUV with which to compete against models such as the SEAT Ateca, Volkswagen Tiguan or Citroën C5 Aircross.

Following the design line outlined by Lauren Van Acker, the brand’s chief designer, we find an SUV that has recently received a facelift with an improved interior design, newly redesigned seats to improve comfort ergonomics.

In the mechanic’s section, we find two 140 and 160 hp gasoline that may be associated with a manual gearbox or Renault’s EDC box. For those who prefer diesel, there are two options of 115 and 150 hp.

The ace up the Kadjar’s sleeve compared to several of its rivals is that it can have an all-wheel-drive system that will allow us to choose between three modes: 2WD, Automatic and Locking.

Renault Kadjar: a review

The Renault Kadjar is a compact size crossover with a spacious interior for five passengers and a good-sized boot that starts at 472 litres and can be expanded to 1,478 by folding down the rear seatbacks.

The range currently available includes two petrol engines 1.3 TCe with 140 hp and 1.3 TCe with 160 hp, both in combination with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. All have the Stop & Start system as standard.

Only the most powerful diesel can be ordered with the all-wheel-drive system, an element that will guarantee better traction when the grip conditions are adverse.

The trim levels are Life, Limited, Zen, and Black Line. They already include good standard equipment, highlighting the air conditioning, speed control, trip computer, sound system, Bluetooth and USB port.

In the most complete you can count on a lane change alert, traffic signal reader, generously sized panoramic roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, keyless access and start, etc.

The main rival of the Kadjar is the Nissan Qashqai, a model with which it shares many components, engines and even a platform. While the Japanese are manufactured in the United Kingdom, Renault leaves the Spanish facilities in Palencia.

Renault Kadjar 2021: no diesel, no 4×4 traction

The Renault Kadjar 2021 surprises us with a radical change in its mechanical range. Although be careful, because the Limited termination returns, and presents authentic demolition prices.

Revolution in the Renault Kadjar range. This compact SUV restructures a large part of its mechanical offer and bets on the price factor to rival the Citroën C5 Aircross, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage or the renewed Peugeot 3008, Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan.

In fact, in the diamond brand, they offer spectacular promotions that significantly lower the exit rate, as we told you in the 2021 Ford Kuga.

It should be noted that the Renault Kadjar 2021 says goodbye to the 150 hp 1.7 Blue dCi diesel engine in the same way as the Renault Mégane 2021. This has another important impact since it means the abandonment of the 4×4 all-wheel-drive versions.

Likewise, the 115 hp 1.5 Blue dCi diesel engine runs out of stock units and says goodbye, although we would not rule out the arrival of an updated variant at the end of its commercial life.

You can only choose the Renault Kadjar 2021 with the excellent 1.3 TCe petrol engine developed with Mercedes-Benz. This four-cylinder is available in two power levels.

The first has 140 hp and with the six-speed manual transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.5 seconds, reaches 203 km / h and uses between 5.6 and 5.8 litres / 100 km. As an option, it can be chosen with the EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission with seven relationships.

In a higher step, we find the 1.3 TCe of 160 CV with the EDC7 change. This version increases the maximum torque to 260 Nm -240 Nm in the 140 hp-, reaches 100 km / h from standstill in 9.3 seconds and sets a top speed of 210 km / h. This variant declares an average consumption of between 5.7 and 5.9 litres/100 km in terms of consumption.

Conclusions

Renault Kadjar is a new adventure of the French brand Renault in the realm of compact SUVs, this time starting with the right premises: low weight, low cylinder capacity engines, and, above all, a successful design and a welcoming interior.

It remains a car of decent reliability and can take on the role of the family car. Especially if you go for a manual transmission, you already have a simple and reliable car that looks good and is also spacious.
